The Bard College Residence Halls, located in upstate New York, leverage passive design principles to minimize their carbon footprint. Responding to their unique environmental surroundings, the college’s residential buildings achieve energy-efficient performance while maintaining a comfortable and beautiful space for students. Architects at KPF utilized elements of climate-responsive building to achieve Bard College’s goal of Passive House certification, one of the most rigorous standards for a building’s energy efficiency.
